The Upscream is a level 2 Monster that looks like a repulsive human head with four arms instead of legs, which it uses to scurry across the map. It moves at a moderate speed and keeps up an erratic, crawling gait that enables it to maneuver through more confined spaces.
When the Upscream detects a player, it rushes toward them and, upon getting into range, emits a violent scream. This scream causes the player to be blasted backward, sustaining 10 damage and becoming stunned for 2 seconds.
During the scream, the player's camera locks onto the Upscream, compelling them to stare directly at it and severely complicating escape or recovery. The creature will scream up to three separate times before withdrawing and breaking off the engagement.
The Upscream's scream is capable of striking players even if they are concealed beneath low furniture like chairs or beds, particularly if the creature positions itself directly over the player's last known location.
However, if the player moves from their initial hiding spot after being seen—but before the attack launches—this action may cause the assault to miss, providing a slight opportunity to evade damage.
The Upscream is a human who walks on all fours. He has no hair, and his body is thin. His face is distorted (elongated), he has large, squinty eyes, and a small, forced smile. (sigma face)
Beware of Chain Stuns: A single Upscream can be irritating, but multiple can be lethal, as they are capable of stunlocking a player in a perpetual loop of attacks until they are killed.
Exploit Walls for Benefit: Back yourself into a wall so that you tumble into it when the creature knocks you back. This will launch the Upscream backward and inflict damage when it crashes into an object.
Extremely Dangerous in Pit Rooms: Due to its habit of throwing you upward and backward, the Upscream becomes far more dangerous in areas containing pits, as it can launch you over any guardrails meant to prevent you from falling. Never linger longer than necessary in a room with pits if you know an Upscream is present in the level.
Do Not Rely on Furniture: Upscreams possess the ability to jump and climb onto certain objects, such as tables and chairs. Hiding on top of them will not guarantee your safety.
Coordinate When in Groups: If there is more than one Upscream, ensure your team is well-coordinated or face the risk of being tossed around until it's game over.
Dodge Over the Creature: Players are able to jump and tumble above the Upscream to evade it. This also has a chance to make the Upscream lose its line of sight, effectively removing any aggression toward the player.
Stun for the Kill: They can be stunned by any Valuable, regardless of its size, which makes them easy to defeat once immobilized.
Lift and Slam with Teammates: If two or more players grab one, they can lift and repeatedly slam it to eliminate it.
Manage Your Escape Vector: If an Upscream is pursuing you, make certain it does not hit you in the direction of another monster. Try to maneuver around it so that it flings you in the opposite direction if possible. Being tossed toward a different monster will typically result in death.
Tumble Wings Offer No Protection: Contrary to what might be assumed, the Tumble Wings Upgrade does not help the player take less damage from this monster.
