Gnomes are Level 1 monsters that usually appear in packs of four, unless they are taking the place of a Level 3 monster—in that case, larger swarms might show up. While moving, they stay grouped together and periodically stop in random places.
On their own, Gnomes are fairly simple to deal with, but their presence alongside more serious foes can rapidly become too much.
If no Valuables are nearby, Gnomes will pursue and strike any close player. Their real threat stems from their destructive habits—they will actively look for and ruin any Valuables near players. Gnomes are able to jump, letting them leap into carts or onto raised areas like tables, often inflicting severe item damage with just one hit. They will also copy a player's jump if trying to attack from beneath.
When tossed, Gnomes inflict 0/3/6/10 damage to enemies, with the amount varying based on the force of the throw, but they cause zero damage to players. Upon hitting a surface, they will stun players, though they do not stun enemies in this fashion.
The gnome is a tiny garden dwarf. It’s red, with a red hat as well, and a white beard and mustache. It has a wide smile showing its little teeth, and wears a blue jacket with brown shoes. Its eyes are black and empty, with a single white dot in each.
Effortless to Grab and Defeat: Gnomes do not require any strength to pick up, making them exceptionally easy to eliminate. Just slam them against a surface or throw them high into the air to finish them. You can also deploy one Gnome as a weapon by dropping or smashing it onto another, potentially killing both on impact.
Valuables as a Decoy: If a Gnome is fixated on a Valuable that you hold above a pit, it will jump into the pit without hesitation, likely destroying itself. You can leverage this to safely get rid of Gnomes.
Tactic for Crowd Control: When you find yourself surrounded by multiple Gnomes, continually jumping makes it much more difficult for them to successfully land hits, affording you a moment to flee or change your position.
Utilize Elevated Hiding: If Gnomes are lurking and searching, they can effortlessly locate you on the ground level. To evade them, try concealing yourself above them—in a chest, a cabinet, or any elevated hiding spot that can be closed.
Gnomes Can Substitute Tougher Foes: In particular levels, Gnomes may take the place of a Level 3 monster, resulting in up to 10 Gnomes appearing simultaneously. This significant number can be especially dangerous when you are already dealing with other threats.
Post-Extraction Hordes: Once the final extraction phase starts, monsters experience a 1-second respawn delay. Since Gnomes are low-tier, they can respawn in overwhelming numbers during this phase—remain vigilant and move swiftly.
