Description

Spewers are level 1 Monsters that drift around until they spot a player. After being sighted, a Spewer advances toward the player and attempts to latch onto their face.

Behavior When Latched :

When a Spewer latches on, it briefly stuns the player and stays fixed in place for anywhere from 10 to 60 seconds.

Once it pulls away, the player is knocked down temporarily. The Spewer then attempts to escape as quickly and directly as it can, but if pursued, it will target the player once more.

Effects While Latched :

While it is attached, the player's voice drops lower, and they periodically projectile vomit, inflicting 10 damage to anything struck, including Valuables. If the Spewer senses danger (for instance, being grabbed by a player), it will defensively vomit in the direction of the assailant.

Vomit and Aggro Mechanics :

After separating, the Spewer enters a cooldown phase and will vomit instead of trying to latch on the next time. Hurting monsters with the vomit does not alert or provoke them, with the exception of the Huntsman, who will detect the noise and fire at the player.

Appearance :

The Spewer is a kind of grayish-brown flying fish with small tentacles at the back. Its eyes are completely black, with two red pupils. Its mouth is very large (so it can puke on us more easily...) and you can see its sharp teeth.

Tips & Strategies

  • Environmental Hazards for Quick Kills: Use fireplaces, cauldrons, or similar environmental dangers to eliminate Spewers by forcing them inside. This approach typically won't succeed with pits unless you shove the Spewer into the killbox at the very bottom.

  • Pushing and Stun Requirements: You have the ability to grab and continuously push a Spewer away regardless of your current strength. Only 4 strength is necessary to successfully stun it.

  • Behavior When Seized: When a Spewer is grabbed, it will immediately aim its projectile vomit at you. If you don't touch it, it will only attempt to latch onto your face.

  • Losing Target and Utilizing Cover: Spewers lose sight of their targets very rapidly. You can push them behind corners or other obstacles that interrupt the line of sight. Due to their slow, drifting movement, it may take several seconds for them to pass the barrier, providing you with a chance to run or hide.

  • Grabbing Techniques: Without range enhancements, catching an aggravated Spewer before it fastens onto your face is challenging. To simplify this, hold down the grab button while keeping the Spewer on your crosshair as it approaches. You will automatically grab it once it's in range. Remember, it will break free after 2–3 seconds and immediately attempt to latch on, so use that short window effectively.

  • Stunning and Combat Utility: Spewers can be stunned by valuables of any size, making them exceptionally easy to kill. They also serve as excellent weapons against slower enemies, such as Trudge or Clown, who struggle to avoid their vomit assault.
