Description

The Huntsman is a Level 3 Monster that resembles a blind old hunter, wearing a green jacket and wellies, and using a long hunting rifle as a walking stick. Despite his blindness, he remains an extremely lethal threat thanks to his heightened sense of hearing and instant-trigger reaction to sounds.

Behavior :

He wanders the area at a slow pace, tapping the ground with his rifle and occasionally humming softly. His lack of sight is compensated by his extraordinary auditory perception—he will immediately shoot at any noise, whether caused by players, moving objects, slamming doors, or other monsters. A single shot is enough to kill a player outright, dealing 100 damage and stunning them. The Huntsman can detect something as subtle as a player standing up from a crouch or rotating a valuable too fast.

He does not stay in one room for too long, but any loud disturbance—even from nearby areas—can cause him to deviate from his path and investigate. While he cannot touch or reach players hiding in furniture or standing in elevated places, he will still shoot toward any sound in the area.

He is vulnerable to stairs—if he attempts to descend them, he will trip and become briefly stunned.

Unique Trait :

Voice and text chat both count as in-game sound sources. Talking too loudly with your mic on or typing in chat near the Huntsman can cause him to change direction—or even fire at you.

Tips & Strategies

  • Any nearby noise will be blamed on you. Sounds created near your location—such as those from Valuables or Monsters—will cause the Huntsman to shoot at you rather than the source. For example, if an Apex Predator trailing you suddenly makes noise, the Huntsman will assume you're responsible and open fire. To avoid this, keep the Apex Predator moving by aiming your crosshair at it, as it only quacks when idle.
  • You can bait his shot by throwing an item. Tossing a Valuable in another direction can draw the Huntsman’s attention and cause him to fire away from your actual position, giving you a chance to reposition safely.
  • Repeatedly making noise near stairs can kill him. If a room has stairs and no exit, luring the Huntsman to fall repeatedly down them by making noise behind a wall can eventually kill him.
  • Crouch-walking is completely silent. This makes it the safest method for moving around the Huntsman without alerting him. As long as you don’t stand up, rotate heavy objects too fast, or bump into things, you’re undetectable.
  • The Huntsman can be stunned by lifting and rotating him. Grab either his upper or lower half and rotate fast enough to lift him briefly off the ground. This will cause a short stun window—just make sure to bait his shot first. While doable without upgrades, it's far safer with strength boosts.
  • His rifle shot can “spawn” through walls. If he fires while pressed up against a wall, the shot can still damage players or objects on the other side, even if you think you’re out of sight.
  • Stunning cancels his retaliation shot. If you plan to lift him after a stun, there's no need to follow the standard grab–slam–release loop. Just keep slamming until he dies.
  • Always bait out his shot before grabbing him. Otherwise, he’ll instantly spin around and shoot you upon being touched. A missed bait can be fatal.
  • His bullets only damage one thing. The Huntsman’s shot will not pierce through multiple targets—if it hits something, it won’t go through and strike what’s behind it.
