Description
The Heart Hugger is a Level 2 Monster distinguished by its unique detection and attraction mechanism, which is reminiscent of the Peeper's. Instead of engaging in a classic chase, it uses a ranged attack to lure its victim towards it in order to inflict multiple blows at close range.
Behavior :
The Heart Hugger emerges from the ground when it detects a player. Once it sees you, it spits a pink gas that, if it hits you, activates a visual effect where you see the monster transform into a cute little heart, while simultaneously trapping you and slowly pulling you towards it.
After pulling you in, it will unleash a series of attacks. Once finished, it will burrow back into the ground and reappear elsewhere
(near where it was).
It's important to note that you cannot stun the Heart Hugger by grabbing it while you are being pulled in by the attack. In Co-op mode, your allies can try to pull you
out of the area of effect, but the Heart Hugger will continue to attack until you are out of range.
Attack :
The Heart Hugger's attack is triggered once you get close enough to it. It will unleash a series of approximately 5 blows, each dealing 30 damage. If all five blows connect, it can inflict up to 150 damage.
You will also take 10 damage from falling to the ground after his attack (if you are not already close to the ground).
Appearance :
The Heart Hugger is a type of carnivorous plant, with a brown stem, surrounded by another thinner green stem spiraling around the main one. It has two small green leaves at the base of its stem. The carnivorous plant's mouth is entirely pink, heart-shaped, with teeth, and two small arms at its ends. Inside its mouth, you can see its small mouth in the center, and two tiny smiling faces at the top left and right of the heart. When you are under the effect of the gas, the plant "transforms" (for you) into a very cute little floating heart with big black eyes and a pink smile.
Tips & Strategies
- Preventive Attack: The most effective approach is to defend yourself while you're being grabbed. You can draw a weapon (melee or ranged) and attack the Heart Hugger instead of trying to grab it.
- Stun Weapons: The Sledgehammer is excellent against it because it can stun it, interrupting its attack and allowing the player to escape.

Minimizing Damage: If you don't have a weapon, you can grab the monster and shake it from side to side to push it away slightly and limit the number of hits it inflicts on you.

Co-op: In co-op, allies can use their grab ability to pull the victim out of the Heart Hugger's gas.
