Gameplay Trailer: Poppy Playtime CHAPTER 5 - Full Analysis

Earlier today, the countdown on end-of-the-rope.com finally hit zero. Immediately after, the World Premiere of the Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 Gameplay Trailer began. Once the trailer aired, the website text shifted from "Thank you for playing" to a "SEE YOU SOON", echoing the final message we found at the end of "RESTRICTED_salvation".

 This is it. The final chapter. Let’s break down absolutely everything we saw in this trailer, scene by scene.

The Graveyard of Toys

The trailer opens with a chilling sight. We see the bodies of our past nightmares. Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, CatNap, and Doey, in their miniature toy form. They are lifeless, broken, abandoned.

As we see these corpses, we hear a voice—deep, calm, and terrifyingly intelligent. It is the Prototype (1006). He is speaking with a twisted sense of compassion. He says, probably to Poppy: "Don't be afraid. I can fix you."

Two New Hands

As the gameplay kicks in, we immediately notice something new attached to the GrabPack. We aren't just getting one new hand; we are getting two.

1. The Gray Hand: This looks like a heavy-duty, mechanical hand with a pressure gauge. It seems built for industrial tasks or perhaps crushing obstacles.

2. The Yellow Hand: This hand features a screen on the back. It seems to be linked to a new current mechanic, like the Green hand in Chapter 2.

The Emotional Star

This Star is fascinating, Mob has been teasing us with this for months. Throughout the gameplay trailer, she is attached to the blue hand, and she displays different expression, based on the situation (sunglasses, scared, happy):

• Glasses: infrared vision
• Scared: a monster is nearby
• Sun: flashlight is on
• Green smile: battery level for something

Lily Lovebraids: New Villain

We finally have a full reveal of the character teased in the cutouts: Lily Lovebraids.

Her design is a bit creepy, with a porcelain face that looks like it's cracking. She appears to be the main obstacle standing between us and the Prototype, possibly controlled by him against her will. We seem to encounter and have to face it in some kind of giant dollhouse.

Giblet: 2nd New Monster

This is one of the most exciting reveals. For months, Mob Entertainment has teased a model of a stick with a baseball taped to it. We finally know who it belongs to.

In the trailer, we see a stitched-up, bear-like monster wearing a vest and an eyepatch. Crucially, he is holding that stick with a baseball weapon. Unlike the other monsters who screech and attack, this character seems... calm? 

Everything suggests he's an ally, but his voice actor just replied to a post saying "He MIGHT be"...our ally.

Is he going to pull a Doey on us?

The Return of Huggy Wuggy

We already knew the original mascot was returning, but this trailer finally shows him in action. It confirms that Huggy Wuggy will be a major, persistent threat in Chapter 5. We see multiple distinct gameplay sequences: he chases us through narrow red industrial tunnels and stalks us in a large, colorful play area.

However, the trailer hints at a shocking twist regarding his death: In the opening scene with the dead toys, take a closer look. While Mommy Long Legs and CatNap are simply lying there, Huggy Wuggy is the only one being actively impaled by the Prototype.

This suggests a tragic ending for Huggy: the Player won't be the one to kill Huggy. It is highly likely that the Prototype himself will deliver the final blow. THIS IS JUST A THEORY.

Kissy and Poppy alive!

Poppy and Kissy are alive in Chapter 5! At least... at the beginning...!

They are imprisoned in what appears to be a cage / prison. It is very likely the Prototype who locked them there.

The "Frankenstein" Monster

In the trailer, we can once again see this new monster, and even its jumpscare! We also catch a glimpse of a blue alternative version, suggesting that it will be the equivalent of the Smiling Critters / Nightmare Critters, as we had previously theorized in former blogs.

The Mushroom... Monster?

In the trailer, we catch a glimpse of a creature made entirely of glowing purple mushrooms. We don't know exactly what it is, whether it's actually alive or just decorative...? But it's certainly unique. (not William Afton)

The Flashback Machine

We see a brief shot of a strange machine with a helmet and wires. It looks like a Memory Extraction or Brainwashing device.

It is highly probable that Chapter 5 will feature playable flashbacks, letting us see the factory during its prime, or perhaps allowing us to witness the Hour of Joy through the eyes of another character.

The Prototype Revealed

The climax of the trailer is the moment when the Prototype approaches Poppy's cage, with her skull inside.

The Prototype shatters the glass, scattering shards all over the floor, approaches, and we can distinguish its shadow and parts of its face through the pieces of glass.

Gameplay Screenshot Gallery

The trailer was moving so fast it was hard to catch everything, but here are some stunning shots of the environment. The graphics have received a massive upgrade. Notice the scale of the environments... this chapter looks huge!!

Update: Poppy Playtime Launcher

Immediately following the trailer, the Poppy Playtime Launcher on PC received an update. The banner for Chapter 5 has been added. If you look closely at the background of the banner, you can see a bit of the Prototype's body.

Update: Steam Achievements & Page

Finally, Mob Entertainment has pushed a massive update to Steam.

• Achievements: Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4 now have full Steam Achievement support!

• Bug Fixes: A lot of old bugs have been patched in preparation for the finale.

• New Screenshot: A new image on the store page shows a dark room with UV paint graffiti of Huggy Wuggy on the floor.
